Find cafes with terraces, garden seating and open-air spaces across Dubai — perfect for cooler evenings and weekend brunches.
Dubai's outdoor cafe season runs from mid-October to April. Outside of those months, the heat is genuinely prohibitive — summer afternoons regularly hit 40°C and above, making even shaded terraces uncomfortable. If you're planning a visit specifically for outdoor seating, that window is when it's worth it. Within those six months, Dubai outdoor seating is excellent. The city has invested heavily in al fresco dining infrastructure — shaded terraces, misting systems, covered walkways — partly because demand is high and partly because the season is short enough that operators know they need to make it count.
The cafes on this page are spread across Dubai, each with a genuine outdoor area: terrace, garden, or boulevard seating that's designed for lingering rather than just overflow capacity. Looking specifically for outdoor cafes on Downtown Dubai's Boulevard, with Burj Khalifa views and fountain access? See our dedicated Outdoor Seating Cafes in Downtown Dubai guide.
Not all outdoor seating is the same. Here's what you'll typically find across the city:
Terrace seating — Raised platform attached to the cafe, usually with overhead cover and umbrellas. Most common in Downtown, DIFC and JBR. Protected from wind and provides some shade from afternoon sun.
Garden seating — Ground-level outdoor area, sometimes with grass or planters. More common in villa-converted cafes in Jumeirah and Al Quoz. Feels more relaxed and residential. Better suited for mornings when the sun isn't directly overhead.
Boulevard seating — Tables set along a pedestrianised street or walkway. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard in Downtown is the best example. More exposed and livelier — suited for evenings.
Rooftop seating — Less common for cafes specifically, but a few spots in Business Bay and DIFC offer elevated outdoor areas with city views.
Downtown Dubai — Densest concentration of outdoor seating along the Boulevard. Convenient, walkable, and well-shaded. Gets busy on weekends. The /discover/outdoor-seating-cafes-downtown-dubai guide covers this area specifically.
Al Quoz — Quieter and more spread out. Garden-style seating is more common here, and the creative-industrial character of the area means a different atmosphere from Downtown. Less foot traffic, easier to find a table even on weekends.
Jumeirah — Several villa-converted cafes with garden seating. More residential feel. Popular with families on weekend mornings.
JBR / Marina — Beachfront and waterfront options. Views are the main draw. Can be crowded on weekends and tends to attract more tourists than the Al Quoz or Jumeirah spots.
